Doris Crisostomo Martinez has always had an interest in health, fitness and helping others realize greater levels of well-being and quality of life. In the 1980’s she became a Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Master Personal Trainer, Nutrition Counselor and Wellness Coach. It was in 1995 that Doris began her exploration of yoga, but she didn’t develop a serious relationship with her yoga practice until 1999. She completed her first yoga teacher training in 2000 and as the years passed, with the help of many masterful teachers, went on to earn her designation as an E-RYT-500, YACEP and certification as a Yoga Wellness Educator.
Doris continues to perfect her craft and strives to deliver her classes in a way that creates discovery for both the beginner and experienced practitioner. She is deeply intuitive in her ability to move students beyond their self-imposed limitations into realizing their greatest self. She believes the process and approach one takes to learning any asana is much more meaningful than flawlessly achieving that pose.
As a teacher of teachers, Doris has the knowledge and tools to train students to teach a safe, attentive, mindful, and alignment based yoga class. Her strengths lie in her deep understanding of yoga and anatomy, her expansive listening skills, her genuine compassion, and her willingness to vulnerably share herself, inspiring others to do the same.
Doris’ goals are to preserve the authenticity of yoga in her teachings and her practice, both on and off the mat; to live and love with complete self-expression and self-acceptance; and to empower others to tap into their inner strength, brilliance and joy through transformation, self-inquiry and the practice of yoga.
