After retiring as a professional actress in Southern California, I found yoga in 1997. I became certified one on one at the 200 hour level in 2000 and taught for Yoga Works Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa, Yoga World in Long Beach, Yoga Arts in Tustin and private sessions. My lineage is Krishnamacharya and I was incredibly lucky to learn from so many teachers in the area at the time, Rodney Yee, Shiva Rae, Anna Forrest, Gary Kraftsow, Kofi Busia, Adhil Palkivala, Rod Stryker and more. I moved to Colorado in 2006, and the following year opened Treetop Yoga in 2007. After receiving a graduate certificate in advanced 300 hour training from Rocky Mountain Institute in Yoga and Ayurveda with Sarasvati Buhrman, PhD in the Baba Hari Das tradition, I sold the group space and opened Northern Colorado's first Private Practice in Yoga in 2011. Having raised a teen boy with bi-polar (and having undergone years of individual and family systems work for this) I pursued further training in trauma protocols with yoga nidra (Swami Brahmananda in the Satyananda lineage) and graduated the iRest program with Richard Miller, PhD in 2014. My studies and teachings are now from Advaita Vedanta (non-dualism) with deep influence from Sri Vidya and Douglas Brooks, PhD. These teachings are applied to help students and clients see the shadow side of their nature and to learn to embrace the whole, cultivate right action and the customized practices from Sri Vjana Bhairava Tantra. The acting career has woven itself beautifully into this style. I have taught weekly DoD grant-funded sessions for veterans and have maintained contracts through the years of private practice with the Larimer County Human Resources Dept., No Co chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, Denver Brain Injury Alliance, Cheyenne and Fort Collins, VA among others. Since November 2017, I have been working with InnerBalance addiction recovery center on a weekly basis and facilitate quarterly yoga psychology workshops. My private practice has a strong cross referral system with local psychotherapists, GP's, physical therapists and psychiatrists. Clientele include many mental health providers who are learning practices from iRest and philosophy to apply to their own clientele.
