Two decades ago, I attended my first yoga class at the local YMCA while my daughter was at basketball practice. I was hooked, and, a teacher by profession, I knew that some day I was going to teach yoga. After retiring as a community college Spanish professor in 2014, I completed my 200-hour training with Pamela Higley Yoga in Tacoma, WA. I started teaching at the same YMCA where I took my first class. I later completed my 300-hour training through Twist Yoga in Edmonds, WA. My certifications include Accessible Yoga (with Jivana Heyman), Love Your Brain Yoga (for people with traumatic brain injury--with Kyla Pearce) and Yin Yoga (with Bernie Clark). The emphasis of my teaching is on nurturing, contemplative yoga for everyone. I currently teach vinyasa, power yoga and "yinstorative" for the YMCA and have been seriously studying Sanskrit since May of 2021. I also work as a medical interpreter.
