“Intuitive, honest, attentive, creative, joyful and full of expression – there’s something about Karla that sparks directly to your insides, and suddenly you realise you have a newfound conversation with your inner world as well as gaining a deeper experiential understanding of easeful breathing, balanced posture and integrated movement...”
- Sarah Hart
I began yoga practice with my mum when I was 15. I completed a comprehensive three year apprenticeship in 2002. I began study with my teacher and mentor Donna Farhi in 2001, completing her advanced teacher training in 2005. I have assisted Donna on numerous intensives and teacher trainings, in New Zealand, Australia and Spain.
I co-direct the Contemporary Yoga Teacher Training in New Zealand with my wonderful colleagues Neal Ghoshal (co-director), Sam Loe and Haidee Stairmand. Our training programmes are dedicated to excellence in the investigation of body-mind approaches to yoga practice and teaching.
We created the Contemporary Yoga Centre in Auckland, New Zealand where I teach weekly classes, beginners courses and private lessons. I specalize in restorative yoga, which I have been teaching for over 20 years.
I travel to India and Nepal when possible to live and share yoga and English language studies in two Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries.
I am a passionate gardener.
I am currently on the Somatic Movement Educator programme in Melbourne, Australia - directed by Olive Bieringa.
