Originally a Glasgow boy, I have lived in Edinburgh, Manchester, Amsterdam, Melbourne,  New York and I now call Sydney home . My path to yoga teaching followed the completion of a Law Degree and a Graduate Certificate in Counselling; running a support company within the Scottish Music Industry; teaching Community Welfare and Development students at Swinburne University TAFE and working with at risk young people in State Care with disabilities/mental health issues; working at a well known Edinburgh health food store and a Glasgow fruit and vegetable institution; learning about feet in an expanding shoe shop - and even a stint at Edinburgh Castle.

Stepping onto my first yoga mat in 2002, my journey has taken me to classes with Hatha, Integral, Sivananda, Bikram, Jivamukti,Power, Flow, Vinyasa and Anurasana trained and inspired teachers at studios around the world. I regularly practiced and attended Iyengar, Ashtanga, Knoff and Yoga Synergy style classes. This includes workshops and classes taught by R.Sharath Jois and R.Saraswathi, Gregor Maehle, Tim Miller, David Williams, David Swenson, Simon Borg Olivier, Simon M Marrocco, Nicky Knoff, James Bryan, Greg Cooper, Amanda Stead, Alison West, David Life, Sharon Gannon, Nikki Costello and Manorama.

I completed my Foundation Level Yoga Teacher Training (352 hours) with yoga master Nicky Knoff (www.knoffyoga.com) in Wellington,New Zealand in 2005 before taking taking over BeachYoga (Melbourne, Australia) which I co-ran for 7 years, teaching all levels of yoga students (beginners to advanced), post and pre-natal Pregnancy Yoga, Yoga for Teens, Yoga for Sports Teams, injury and health concern specific yoga (Holistic Healing and Remedial), Yoga in Gyms, Yoga for Youths with Mental Health Issues, Yoga for Hospital Workers, regular Corporate Yoga classes (and one off health day events)and Private one-on-one Yoga Sessions. I co-ran numerous Yoga Workshops in Melbourne and New Zealand, and Mentored newly qualified yoga teachers. I was the first Lululemon Athletica Ambassador for their Brighton (Melbourne) showroom, and for 2 and a half years and I regularly taught free yoga classes to the local community, set up a charity yoga class which raised money for orphans in Swaziland, assisted at yoga fundraising events and spread the benefits of yoga around Melbourne Town.

Knoff Yoga is grounded in the traditions of Iyengar and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, and offers an insightful and dynamic form of yoga which combines the anatomical alignment of Iyengar with the energetic principles of Ashtanga. The tradition of yoga is honoured by incorporating meditation to still the mind, pranayama (yogic breathing techniques) to purify the nervous system, asana (yoga poses) to strengthen, align and balance the body, relaxation to let go of deeply held stress and philosophy to learn how to live skilfully.

Returning to yoga master Nicky Knoff in 2008 to Cairns, Australia to complete my Knoff Yoga Intermediate level Teacher Training Certificate (included what is now termed' Holistic Healing' and Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training) which I renewed and updated in August 2013 and 2016. My Knoff Training is recognized as RYT-500. I have assisted master yoga teacher Nicky Knoff teaching Knoff workshops in Melbourne (2007-2012) and her Knoff Chair and Discovery Level Teacher Training, Melbourne August 2012.

I spent the first 6 months of 2013 in New York City and attended classes variously at Alison West's Yoga Union, The Iyengar Institute NYC, The Maha Padma Yoga Temple (Ashtanga with Shana Swanson), The Yoga Shala, and Kula Yoga Project in Tribeca where I attended Nikki Costello's weekly Teacher's Practice class (exclusively for yoga teachers) and her 2013 Spring Mentor Practice (invited Yoga Teachers).

I returned to Scotland and taught yoga in Edinburgh and Dunfermline from February 2014. At Union Yoga (Feb 2014 - Dec 2015), I created, developed and taught foundation & beginners courses, workshops and intensives as well as led Knoff and Ashtanga classes and privates. In July 2015 I completed David Swenson's 40hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training of intensive study in the foundations and teaching techniques of the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. I also began my second stint as a Lululemon Ambassador, this time at the Edinburgh store.

Returning to Australia in 2016, I spent 7 months at the Yoga School, Cairns (attending classes, mentoring students and teachers and undertaking a renewal of the Updated Knoff Intermediate level Yoga Teacher Training with my teacher Nicky Knoff.)

I am currently based in Sydney, Australia. Having taught scheduled Hatha Yoga classes (and providing cover for both Restorative & Hatha classes) at the busy Yoga Village studios (Oct. 2016 - December 2017), I am now back to freelance teaching. This has included privates and a monthly outdoor yoga classes for Overseas Students.

I practice yoga because I have found it to be a complete system that works. I experience its benefits every time I get on my mat and I love sharing its riches with my yoga students. My teaching style has been called compassionate, insightful, approachable, intelligent, safe and fun. I am constantly learning, with each and every student I encounter teaching me an deepening my yoga knowledge.

I am always happy to teach yoga wherever I am invited, so if you in need of a compassionate, experienced and committed teacher for privates, classes for all levels and abilities (including rehabilitation, pregnancy, restorative, beginners to more experienced), corporate, workshops or retreats - or if you are a yoga teacher in need of a mentor to take your teaching to the next level,  please get in touch.
