I got interested in yoga as a child. My dad and his dad did it before me (in a fitness world very different from our own). Movement was just something I always did. As a young person I was a swimmer, runner, cheerleader and dabbled in many other things. Believe it or not, my dream as a child was to be an aerobics instructor (or musical theatre star, and you might be surprised at how similar those two jobs are! :P ). The 80s are long gone and I don't wear a leotard and tights to work, except on Halloween.
I realized that there were so many holes in my regular fitness classes and that yoga could fill them in. Mindfullness, stability, slow movement and breath work are crucial in a fitness world focused on aesthetics and pushing it as hard as you can to get a Yoga Booty Body. In my classes I always aim for functionality, fun and balance.
