Nya completed her 200 hour Yoga Training in Vinyasa Krama at Loyola Marymount University and her 500 and 800 hour Yoga Training in Therapeutic Benefits of Yoga at Kripalu/IYT (Joseph Le Page).  Nya studied intensively in Calcutta, India with Muktamala Mitra and has a diploma in the Therapeutic Benefits of Yoga from the Ghosh College. She is highly influenced by the Calcutta yogis: Paramahansa Yogananda, Ramakrishna, and Bishnu Ghosh.

She also holds a  200 hour certification in Yin Yoga from Founder/Master Paulie Zink and a 100 certification in Yoga for Cancer from Nischala Joy Devi. Nya is also certified in Yoga Nidra from the Yoga Academy of North America and Restorative Yoga from Expanding Light. Nya is passionate about using yoga, art and meditation as tools for inquiry, spiritual growth and transformation.

Nya is the creator of the 200 and 300 hour teacher trainings: The Art of Yoga.  These two teacher trainings emphasize both structural and spiritual understanding of asana, as well as, approaching yoga with a capital Y - meaning practicing all 8 limbs of Yoga.  In the Art of Yoga program, yoga poses are understood as launching points for self-inquiry, transformation and manifestation.

Nya's yoga research and writing centers around the lunar goddesses, moon salutations, guided imagery, yoga nidra and yoga poses as metaphors/archetypes.
