Mary was first introduced to the practice of yoga in 1999 while studying at Toronto's York University. Initially drawn to the grace and beauty of the poses, she quickly learned to appreciate the less obvious benefits of yoga - particularly the control of breath and the cultivation of a still mind.
After over a decade of study she took the leap into a 200 hour teacher training at TAYS yoga studio in Halifax, NS. Since then she has taken additional focused trainings in Prenatal, Mom and Baby, Yin and Restorative practices. She has also attended courses on safe and effective physical assists, non-violent communication and anatomy for yoga teachers.
She believes that yoga should be accessible, safe - and even fun. With that in mind she creates classes that are highly modifiable, and welcoming; inviting her students to be gently curious about themselves and about the world we share.
Currently in pursuit of her 500 hour teacher certification, and with well over 1000 teaching hours Mary continues to seek out opportunities to learn and grow as a teacher, and as a human being.
