Lauren first came to her mat in 1998, seeking drug-free relief from chronic back pain. Her asana practice soon brought demonstrable relief from those years of physical pain, but more than that, yoga prepared her for some of the most difficult and challenging times of her life.
Uprooted and left homeless by natural disaster, she found an incredible peace and stability in the practice of yoga. Profoundly inspired, Lauren went on to obtain her RYT certification with Discovery Yoga Center in St. Augustine, Florida. Over the next few years, she worked with teachers in the Caribbean, Florida, Georgia, California and Canada to continue growing her understanding and practice of this sacred art and science.
After nearly 10 years of teaching, Lauren chose to further her study of yoga by enrolling in the 300-hour training program with the Soul of Yoga. Working with master teachers like Richard Miller, Chinamasta Styles and Joe Barnett has enhanced both her skills as a practitioner and a teacher. Graduating from that program in June of 2020, Lauren is now an ERYT-200, RYT-500 and YACEP. She currently serves as administrator and Lead Teacher for the teacher training program at Pilgrimage of the Heart yoga studios in San Diego, CA. She teaches weekly classes in pranayama, hatha asana and yin yoga. She also leads small, focused workshops dedicated to deepening students' understanding of physical engagement and alignment; subtle energetics and philosophical concepts. Lauren is also a Master Level Reiki practitioner. She uses this additional modality to enhance energetic awareness in her students.
