My name is Joëlle Sleebos. Yoga, Ayurveda and the related spiritual rituals and practices, allow us to deeply connect with ourselves, one another and nature. My passion and life purpose is to assist people to connect to the deeper layers of their being through yoga and other spiritual and lifestyle practices to improve their health and well-being. I feel these practices allow us to self-explore, self-care, celebrate our individual uniqueness and honor the collective connectedness both on and off our mats. It gives us a better understanding of the powerful guidance of our inner voices, a way to expand the relationship with our hearts and souls and an exploration of our bodies to reach places that our minds don’t believe they can go.
My business has multiple offerings which are all yoga, health and well-being related. Apart from teaching yoga to groups in the studio and online, I also enjoy teaching people privately in the comfort of their home or online. A large part of my business focused on organizing and hosting Yoga/Well-being Retreats in South Africa, Bali and Europe. I love gathering people! Heal, (re-)connect with yourself and with others in beautiful places around the world. Yoga Retreats offer a way for you to connect with people from different backgrounds, countries and cultures and with different values, norms and habits. A retreat with me is all about connecting with each other and (re-)connecting with yourself through yoga, nutritious food, meditation, breathing exercises and insightful conversations.
I facilitate Yoga Teacher Trainings in Bali and South Africa. At Radiantly Alive in Ubud, Bali I am part of the level 2 300h training where I facilitate the Karma Project/Purpose module. In South Africa, together with the fluidUs Academy, I facilitate a 300h training at Yoga Within in Noordhoek, South Africa. I believe it is important as a yoga teacher to teach and serve from an authentic unique space and continuously seek opportunities to grow and learn.
Thanks to my background as an economist and project manager, I am able to assist yoga teachers in the complex elements of the Business of Yoga, where we discuss the yoga industry, marketing-, branding-, and project management tools. In order to assist teachers in growing and expanding their offering, knowledge, skills and confidence I also offer one-on-one yoga teacher coaching sessions in person and online.
As the Head of Yoga for Virgin Active in South Africa, I advised and guided the prioritization of yoga as an offering in the fitness industry. As the National Specialist, I supervised the training and review of the teachers and had a big impact on the delivery of the Virgin Active Yoga proposition in the 130 fitness clubs around the country. This meant that I advised the marketing, operations, training and customer service departments from a yoga point of view and aligned our South African yoga offering with the global team.
I am a proud ambassador of the EarthChild Project. A South African NGO that operates in disadvantaged schools in Cape Town, South Africa. Working with children and teachers their educational programmes focus on the environment, health and life-skills. They teach practical skills such as yoga, mindfulness & organic gardening to over 3500 children and 300 teachers. I have hosted a charity event, International Day of Yoga every June in Cape Town since 2016 to celebrate the gift of yoga, unifying the yoga community and raising funds for EarthChild Project
