Andrew Krause, PMP, Owner and CEO of Power Moves Yoga (RYS)
My experience of yoga began when I was seeking to balance the intensity and competitiveness of my lifestyle competing in martial arts. I soon discovered that Yoga was much more than I anticipated. Like many others, I began by seeking the physical benefits of the practice and soon found myself benefiting in other capacities of my life. I began committing my time and energy to sharing the practice with others because it provided a pathway to a new level of introspection and discipline in my life.
Public Classes:
I am very involved by practicing and teaching public classes. I teach alignment based, mindful power-vinyasa to improve mobility, inspire creativity, and foster inner-connection. I teach Hot Yoga (called 'Fire' at Power Moves Yoga) as a commitment to a regimented routine and disciplined practice.
In addition to weekly classes, I also develop and lead programs throughout the year that dive deep into various yogic topics. My favorite topics are the 8-Limbs of Yoga, Paths of Meditation, Living Classic Yoga, Arm Balancing Training, and Yoga Psychology. Finally, I host several single day workshops and events throughout the year including Arm Balancing events, Myofascial Release, and Samkalpa Setting/Life Balancing.
Teacher Development Programs:
A very important aspect of my yoga journey is developing teachers through writing and publishing yoga training materials. While leading training programs, I love leading history, philosophy, and advanced teaching methodology. As a by-product of training programs, I keep my teaching skills sharp by developing yoga teachers at the 200 and 300 hour levels. In addition, each trainee deepens my own ability to practice patience, compassion, and creative thinking.
Through researching and developing training materials and programs, my practice has evolved to place special emphasis on root philosophies in yoga, how they relate to our daily lives, and ways to incorporate them in the context of today's culture.
Beyond the Mat:
I am committed to the yoga community as a way of living. With my background in business and project management, I use my skills in organizational leadership to engage the public with a yogic lifestyle. I am dedicated to simultaneously improve the reputation of yoga as the practice evolves and honor the origins of the practice through education, documentation, and embodiment of the philosophies.
My energetic, fluid, and transparent style of teaching brings you to know yoga as it was intended; a practice to become reacquainted with your capacitates, potential and depth.
