Zefea had her first experience with yoga at the age of 4 when her parents practiced with renowned teacher Angela Farmer in the Iyengar tradition. In her twenties she trained in different physical exercises like boxing and the combat system Krav Maga. Zefea rediscovered the benefits of yoga when she started practicing Bikram Yoga in her hometown Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Zefea graduated from Bikram’s Teacher Training in 2005. She represented the Netherlands as the Dutch gold medalist three times in the International Yoga Championships, all those years finishing in the world’s top 10.

In 2009 Zefea and her husband Mark founded evolation yoga in a desire to evolve the way the Primary Hot 26+2 series is passed on, and to focus on a collective and community approach. They have owned studios in Buffalo, NY, Tampa, FL, and Santa Barbara, CA. They have conducted a broad variety of yoga teacher trainings ever since the birth of evolation. Over 275 trainings and more than 2000 trainees later, Zefea feels that they truly have developed an inspiring and effective service. Zefea is excited to continue to expand upon her experiences through their training offering as well as new endeavors. It is her honor to be working together with so many amazing teachers within evolation to bring yoga to more people all over the world.
