SAMANA YOGA & WELLNESS was conceptualize by Kevin Chai and Yeong Lee in October 2019 in the hopes of filling up the gap in the market for pure Vinyasa Yoga to the Malaysian yoga community. They are both trained by their Teacher Edward Clark who created the famed Tripsichore Vinyasa Yoga that has dazzled the yoga world with their theatre performances by applying vinyasa yoga techniques to art.
The word Samana could mean many things. Here we interpret it by deriving from the root word, sam, which means “together” and an, meaning to “breathe”. Here in Samana Yoga & Wellness, we invite you to become part of a collective consciousness of yogis who wish to breathe and move together.
As a yoga academy that specializes in pure Vinyasa which emphasizes synching the breath and movement to bring stillness to the mind, our mission is to teach the art of yoga from within (our breath and mind) to experience and connect with the present moment skilfully. As this is where we can unite with the world through our lenses - our senses of perception.
SAMANA YOGA has been registered as an internationally accredited yoga school (RYS), approved by YOGA ALLIANCE. YOGA ALLIANCE is based in the United States and operates as an administrative and registering body for Yoga Schools everywhere. Its primary role is to oversee that the quality of training and the level of teaching all over the world is of a consistent and highly credible standard.
Students of the Samana Yoga School will undergo 200 hours of structured, practical training. The syllabus has been approved by YOGA ALLIANCE and is reviewed regularly to meet the requirements for continuing registration. In addition to building their own personal practice our students are required to meet the highest expectations to graduate as yoga teachers. They are registered on a global website with a qualification that is internationally portable and recognized globally as a benchmark of excellence. Students who complete a verified training with Samana Yoga may be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teacher (RYTs).
