About This Event

As a Deaf yoga teacher, Master Class presenter Beatrice Bachleda understood that making yoga accessible to the d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities is not as simple as just translating yoga cues into American Sign Language (ASL). Deaf yoga is about maximizing space, intentional demonstration, and building relationships. It depends on understanding how d/Deaf individuals move through the world and experiences. Join Beatrice in a yoga class taught entirely in ASL and learn the importance of supporting a Deaf space for yoga. Interpreters will be provided. All are welcome!

About the Presenter

Beatrice Bachleda is an E-RYT200, RYT500 Colorado-based Deaf yoga teacher. Certified in 2013, she has taught a variety of students in different settings, including Deaf, DeafBlind, hearing, trauma-informed, corporate, and youth. She offers live and recorded classes in American Sign Language (ASL), provides workshops on mindfulness and yoga, and supports healing through yoga with trauma survivor organizations. She also offers workshops for ASL interpreters and students. Her latest project is a series of online courses for the community. When she's not teaching yoga, she takes her adventure cat out on hikes in the mountains and is studying to become an herbalist and Reiki healer.
