About This Event

Listen as Emma Fitzgerald (E-RYT 200) shares her rare cardiovascular condition survival story as well as her vast anatomical knowledge about the function of the cardiovascular system and how yoga helps to manage and improve cardiovascular health.

About the Presenter

Emma is the first child in the world to survive birth with a Congenital Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, surviving her first Open Abdominal Aortic (AAA) Bypass Surgery at 1 month old—something medical professionals call “a medical miracle mystery.” She is an anomaly setting precedent in the International Public Medical database for being the first survivor of this rare condition and life-threatening surgery. As far as dated literature goes back, Emma is the eldest of approximately 11 survivors internationally, out of the 26 reported cases to-date.

Through embracing her condition and navigating her own course of rehabilitation, she built her Wellness Coaching Program. Emma uses her own experiences with her medical battle to bring awareness to the importance of living a wellness inspired lifestyle, managing cardiovascular health and bringing understanding to illnesses that cannot be “seen with the naked eye”. She is an E-RYT 200 and her experience in surgical rehabilitation is unique and brings a special compassion and awareness to her teaching style.
