About This Event

This digital event showcases yoga professionals who have shown great resilience in a time of strife, using yoga and yoga philosophy as a source of support and grounding. It also highlights how yoga has helped carve pathways of innovation, service, discovery, and community throughout the COVID-19 crisis.


About the Presenters

Salim Rollins is the Co-Director of Synergy Yoga, a registered Yoga Alliance School that offers trainings, retreats, and workshops in yoga, Thai massage, and other healing modalities. He has maintained a dedicated yoga practice since 2000 and studied with several master teachers throughout India and the U.S. Additionally, Salim is a Contra-Mestre of the Afro-Brazilian martial art, Capoeira Angola, an art form that he has been practicing since 1995 as one of a few disciples of Grand Master João Grande. He is the founder of Capoeira Kibera—a community program that uses Capoeira Angola to impart critical life skills and offer expanded choices to youth in Nairobi’s Kibera slum. Most recently Salim, has launched his practice as a Thai massage therapist having studied with Francisco Morales-Bermúdez. Salim deeply values his mission of sharing healing practices and curating wellness spaces with communities throughout the world.

Dox Diggla a.k.a "Brick City Buddha is the Founder of MEDed llc. (Meditation Education), a heralded highly sought-after meditation teacher, mentor, life coach, counselor, artist, public speaker, activist, and much more. As a survivor of suicidal attempts, depression, kidney failure, and even blindness, Dox rose from the ashes of his turmoil in legendary fashion to become a pillar of his community and a champion of mental health and spiritual wellness via his unique approach to yoga (and specifically meditation). Dox's path to personal and community healing started with his studies in the ancient science of yoga through "Honor's Yoga" online courses nearly a decade ago. In his years of experience, Dox has worked with an extremely diverse range of clients from the affluent to the impoverished, first-graders to CEOs and effectively helps his rapidly expanding client base discover the healers lying dormant within themselves.

Payal Gori is a yoga teacher, animal lover, entrepreneur and the co-founder of Karuna Yoga Journeys—a Yoga Teacher Training School and Mindful Travel company. With compassion as her central life principle, she dreamt of expanding yoga and meditation as a tool for growth, healing, and community in East Africa, where she opened Karuna Studio in Uganda. Her main passions are philosophy, movement, and creating impactful change. Through Karuna Yoga Teacher Trainings and Retreats, she has created a beautiful community of like-minded change makers in and around East Africa that share the common values of compassion and the love for mindful living. Biotechnologist turned yoga teacher, Payal loves academics and uses this passion to curate and create educational offerings ranging from vinyasa to meditation and anatomy to philosophy. She truly believes in the power of community to create change, growth and resilience.

Adam Wetterhan (E-RYT 500) teaches hatha and ashtanga-vinyasa at Yoga on High in Columbus, Ohio and behind bars in various prisons through the nonprofit Healing Broken Circles, where he also trains incarcerated men to teach the practice. Adam sees his work on social justice as completely integral to his practice and teaching. He also maintains a rigorous commitment to pranayama and meditation which informs his style of teaching: postural work clarifies the mind and liberates the flow of prana.
