About This Event

Learn how to create a more comfortable and equitable yoga space for historically marginalized folks, particularly LGBTQ2SIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Two-spirit, Intersex, Asexual, plus) and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) folks. In this workshop, Teaching for Equity recipient Ameerah Craigg reviews the basics of how to offer radically anti-oppressive wellness spaces and provides a detailed How-To on leading a trauma-informed and inclusive yoga session.


About the Presenter

Ameerah has been practicing yoga for nearly 2 decades and leading yoga sessions for 4 years. She uses the basics of Kundalini yoga and body movement to support folks in centreing wellness in their lives. Ameerah is also an experienced counsellor, facilitator, and community organizer. She is passionate about supporting marginalized communities in accessing authentic self care by connecting earth and spirit to community. Ameerah operates from a trauma informed, womanist/feminist, harm reduction framework. Currently, Ameerah teaches in person in Toronto and the GTA. She also teaches around the world via virtual sessions.
