About This Event

This workshop series untangles the complicated roots of our modern yoga practice. From Indian ascetics, tantric mystics, and bodybuilders to European philosophers, wizards, and dancers, we’ll trace the wild rhizomatic web that got us to today's physical and spiritual practices.

About the Presenter

Anya Foxen, Ph.D., is a historian studying yoga and spirituality. She is the author of two books, including Inhaling Spirit (Oxford University Press, 2020) and Biography of a Yogi (Oxford University Press, 2017), and teaches at California Polytechnic State University. She is also a long-time yoga practitioner and “retired” teacher.
