This workshop looks at the rise of QAnon and conspiracy theories in recent years, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how it is impacting the yoga community. The discussion also covers approaches for how the yoga community can address conspiracy theories amongst its practitioners. About the Presenters

Cécile Guerin is a researcher at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, an international think tank working to fight extremism, disinformation, and polarisation. Her work focuses on social media analysis and network mapping related to far-right extremist mobilisation, disinformation, and conspiracy theories online. A longstanding yoga practitioner, she completed her 200-hour yoga teaching qualification with Hotpod Yoga and is interested in how the yoga community can play a positive role in fighting radicalisation.

In the ’90s and early 2000s, Alex was a producer/reporter based overseas for a Television news agency called Worldwide Television News (WTN), then for Associated Press (AP). She spent numerous years covering news in conflict zones, including Bosnia, Kosovo, Rwanda, Iraq, as well as Europe and Latin America. She moved back to DC in early 2000 to become Regional Editor for Latin America for AP Television. In 2004, she decided to become a full-time mom. She has continued to work in communications and news projects while also teaching yoga to young and old alike. Yoga has helped her heal from her many years of living and working in dangerous environments. Alex is an RYT 200 and a Reiki Level 2 (Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki) certified teacher.
