For Lisa, The Fat Yogini, yoga is more than a physical practice: it is the path to a peaceful, loving, relationship with one's Self. Lisa's work as a yoga teacher, teacher trainer, and body image warrior is based on her belief that we are all okay exactly as we are. Through years of exploring, customizing and adjusting the physical practice of yoga to suit first her own larger body and then her students of various levels of ability, ailments, ages, and body types, Lisa developed Body Positivity Yoga™ - an approach to yoga that is truly accessible to all ages, sizes, body types and levels of ability.
In addition to teaching a variety of yoga classes and workshops, Lisa offers the following COURSES:
- Teaching Outside The Mat™ - a course for yoga teachers interested in exploring a new approach to yoga that allows them to customize the practice to each and every student, regardless of ability
- Teaching Yoga for All Bodies™ - a course for yoga teachers who want to make their classes safe and welcoming to larger-bodied students. Content includes language and sensitivity, size stigma, the principles of Health At Every Size, promoting yourself as body-positive and pose variations specific to curvy bodies.
- Body Positivity Yoga™ - the combined methodology of Teaching Outside The Mat™ and Teaching Yoga for All Bodies™ - completion of this certification course results in a certificate in Body Positivity Yoga™ and authorization to use the Body Positivity Yoga™ name for your classes.
- Meet Yourself Where You Are™ - a body image course for anyone wanting to learn more about body acceptance, self-acceptance, self-care and personal empowerment - both on and off the yoga mat.
Lisa is a community partner in the Yoga and Body Image Coalition and all of Lisa's courses, classes, and workshops are free of diet and weight-loss talk.
