About Suria Carvalho

Suria is the founder and CEO of VeYogic Corporate Wellness LLC (VeYogic Wellness). She has developed VeYogic's unique approach for corporate wellness. During her undergraduate studies, Suria completed a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Compelled to implement positive long-lasting and effective changes in environmental preservation, she saw the importance to study people's motivations and interactions with each other, and their cultural, social and physical environment. Subsequently, she completed a Master's in Communication (MA) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa to learn effective communication methods and strategies. later, she pursued a Ph.D. in Environmental Science at the University of Auckland, in New Zealand. In addition, Suria has extensively traveled the world. She has done various volunteer jobs in Costa Rica, Mexico, India, and Germany, working in Cambodia, Philippines, India, Slovakia. She also visited Japan, France, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Austria, Samoa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia. This direct experience with other cultures taught her to be humble and to challenge her worldviews and assumptions. 

In 2015, Suria completed her first 200 hours yoga teacher training (TTC) in Ashtanga Yoga with Lorraine Taylor, in Thailand. After which she returned to her home country (Brazil) and taught for a year. In 2016 she returned to India to further her education as a Yoga teacher. She then completed another 500 hours Hata Yoga TTC and worked as a yoga, pranayama, and meditation teacher at Nirvana Yoga Shala. She continued her journey in South East Asia and taught in Cambodia and in the Philippines, before returning to the United States. Suria currently lives in Washington DC and implements her yoga wellness programs in various local organizations, including IPS, Google, Ayuda, Yoga del Sol, Yoga NoMa, and Svetness. Recently she returned to India, Rishikesh, and completed another 300 hour TTC. Suria is caring, gentle and compassionate. Her passion and dedication are visible and touches those who come in contact with her.
