About Luana Fara Gonçalves

Luana, is originally from Costa Rica, with Brazilian roots. She has been through a versatile journey that has turned into the path of Yoga. For this reason she now dedicates her life to this practice: learning, teaching, sharing and living this philosophy from different perspectives.

She studied Contemporary Dance Arts and worked for several years as a dance teacher, choreographer and performer. At the same time she began studying holistic body practices in 2001 which is when she was first introduced to yoga.

In 2006 her life drastically changed as she began working in the corporate world and decided to stop dancing. A short time after that, she picked back up her yoga practice and moved heavily into both Yoga and Pilates.

In 2010 Luana finished her Pilates Teacher Training Certification additionally in the same year she completed her 250 Hours Yoga and

Meditation Teacher Training in Kasasana Yoga School, both in Costa Rica.

In 2011, driven by her passion for both disciplines, with a dream of sharing this path and aware of the potential of business growing in Costa Rica

market, she decided to open her own studio: EnPrana Yoga & Pilates Center. While running her studio, between 2011 and 2013 she completed the Anusara ® Yoga Immersions I, II and III as well as the Anusara ® Yoga teacher Trainings I, II and III, studying with recognized teachers as Jaye Martin, BJ Galvan and Layla Kuri. In addition to those certifications, she also completed other Yoga workshops and the Pilates Teacher Trainings I & III with Elena Bartley from Pilates Center of Las Vegas.

Starting 2012 Luana became quite interested in Ashtanga. She started practicing with Mariela Cruz and through her path she has practiced and taken workshops with renowned teachers such as Matias Flury, Patrick Nolan, Gabriele Severini and Tim Feldman. 

In December 2012 she traveled to India for the first time and has been traveling back continuously to keep studying with Usha Devi, her Iyengar Yoga Teacher, and with Siddhartha Krishna, her philosophy teacher. Luana has also practiced and studied in Ashrams like Parmarth Niketan and Sadhaka Grama Swami Rama Ashram. She is passionate about Mantra Chanting and playing the harmonium which she started to learn on her last visit to India in 2017.

She has studied many additional courses such as Acroyoga, Breema, Partner Yoga and Thai Massage, with teachers like Justin Carusso and Atma Crista. Also, in 2014, in one of her travels to India,  she certified in Ayurvedic Massage. In 2016 she completed her certification as a Health Coach in the Institute of Integrative Nutrition®. 

In 2015 Luana started her 2 and a half years journey of traveling the world teaching and learning the discipline of Yoga. At the beginning of 2017 she has completed a 200 hour Ashtanga Teacher Training in India, her third teacher Training.  

Luana started teaching Yoga in 2011 (though she started teaching Dance since 1999). She has taught group and private Yoga Classes, Master Classes, Workshops and immersions in Costa Rica and other countries like Guatemala, Spain, Italy, Greece and U.S.A. Also, she has organized Yoga Retreats in Costa Rica and in India.

Currently, Luana moved to New Jersey and together with her love partner (now her husband), they bought a Yoga Studio: Balance Yoga Studio. She is now focused on running the business together with Brian (the love of her life), teaching classes and workshops, and giving Health Coaching Sessions, while she is planing to travel back to India soon to study with her teachers.

Luana believes in the bioindividuality of the human, reason why she doesn’t believe that one system or method fits all. She is always looking for nurturing herself and keep her practice of Ashtanga, supported by the alignments of Iyengar, organic movement, pranayamas and chanting, and sharing her experience and knowledge from a place of non-attachment but self-truth from where she believes that our highest freedom resides in the possibility of been conscious and kind.
