I started practicing yoga before I understood why I was so attracted to it. I remember the bare wooden floors of my first classroom space. My teacher was strong, down to earth and deep. The pure hypnotic meditation I cultivated by focusing on my breath and body in that room stoked a fire deep inside me, a flame that I kept alive through various types of yoga until I found Nirvana Yoga studio in 2012.
In 2013 I completed my 200 hour teaching training in Atlanta, Georgia at Nirvana Yoga with Leigh Anne Neil. I began to really delve into my yoga career about six months later when I moved to Oregon.
Since starting my yoga career, I have amassed over 1000 hours teaching at gyms and yoga studios, in private lessons, and volunteering my time with less privileged kids as well.
Additionally, I am an Oregon licensed massage therapist and vaginal steam facilitator. This added education has improved my teaching skills and my anatomical, physiological, and kinesiological skills tenfold. I integrate massage and yoga together, creating a vision for body and mind health, emphasizing pelvic balance, abdominal strength, and deep breathing exercises.
As of November 2018, I became a Trauma Informed Yoga teacher. These skills have initiated a reflective process inside me that inspires more awareness with every teaching opportunity. It becomes a learning process again. I believe this trauma informed work is incredibly necessary. More and more people are drawn to this practice to find regulation, stabiltiy, and consistency. Trauma informed yoga elevates certain tools & protocols to best serve the community in need.
I welcome any collaboration, dreams, or thoughts!
