Kathy Randolph began her personal yoga practice in 1969 and started her study of Integral Yoga with her teacher Lisa Dalberg in 1990. After reading “Yoga for the Special Child” and with Lisa’s encouragement, Kathy began her training with Sonia Sumar in her first Basic Certification Program in 1999. She completed all advanced courses and was certified as a Hatha Yoga Teacher by the Satchidananda School of Yoga in 2004. Kathy attained her international designation of C-IAYT in 2017.
Trained as a Program Teacher by Sonia Sumar, Kathy travels internationally to bring the Yoga for the Special Child Basic 1 Teacher Training Program to yoga studios who want to bring this important work to their communities.
In 2002 Kathy began to apply the techniques of Yoga for the Special Child to scleroderma, which she presents at Scleroderma Foundation conferences around the U.S. Kathy has made videos for the Scleroderma Foundation which are now available free online at www.yogaforscleroderma.com.
In 2015 Sonia Sumar asked Kathy to teach a Yoga for the Special Child Continuing Education Program for Arthritis and Scleroderma. This training will expand the Yoga for Scleroderma program by providing more practitioners who can serve the Scleroderma community in person.
Kathy continues to teach her weekly classes in Northern Nevada to infants, children and adults with special needs, both in private classes and in inclusive (for both typically developing students and students with a special need) group classes at The Yoga Center, local day cares, pre-schools, after school programs, summer programs, group homes and clinics.
COVID update: Kathy offers Yoga for Scleroderma classes twice weekly, by zoom, outdoors in person or phone check-in. Yoga for Scleroderma offers twice weekly guided relaxations, meditations and breathwork which become free podcasts and videos.
