Looking for a prenatal, postnatal, alignment-focused teacher who has training in yoga for the pelvic floor? Contact me!
Hi I'm Whitney and I am a yoga teacher who specializes in prenatal, postnatal, and pelvic floor yoga. I love yoga because of how good it feels to move my body into the different shapes. These are simple shapes that I'm referring to and not the acrobatic ones that people sometimes associate with yoga. As yoga instructor Bryan Kest would say, "this pose is called bend over and touch your toes." It's fine if that pose is also called Uttanasana, but it's more about what that pose does for your health.
I knew nothing about pregnancy, except from the movies and watching The Business of Being Born. I was even frightened of the whole pregnancy, labor, and delivery process. I was already a certified yoga instructor so when an opportunity arose to take a prenatal training, I immediately enrolled and not only am I grateful for the knowledge, but I love sharing it. As body mechanics and awareness in yoga are my passions, I took a specialized training on yoga for pelvic floor problems to better serve myself and you. I have since immersed myself in the specialties of prenatal, postnatal, and pelvic floor yoga. While pregnant and postpartum, I found my expertise invaluable and I hope to share that with you.
I have been practicing yoga since 1996 when I started taking Hatha yoga at UCLA and then Iyengar yoga. I've been teaching since obtaining my 200-hour training in 2012 from YogaWorks, and my prenatal teacher training in January, 2014.
