Hilary Brich (RYT500) started her yoga practice as a little girl, doing plow pose and headstands under her father’s casual instruction. She kinda didn’t get it and left it alone for a long time. In mid-life she returned to it as a kind of surrender: her body told her that all the other means of “keeping fit” were behind her. But yoga had a few surprises in store for her. She listened with increasing interest. Now her mat is a place of endless fascination and recreation from the inside out.
Hilary teaches all the kinds of yoga she loves to practice as a student, including vinyasa, 26+2, gentle yoga, and restorative yoga. In recent years, she has expanded her practice to include meditation. When she first started her practice, yoga had the immediate benefit of helping a lame foot, putting more movement into her partially fused spine. She has returned to the mat again and again to see what else might happen. In the years since, she has witnessed yoga’s transformative power in her body and mind, positively impacting so many things, from her energy level to awareness around food choices to the way she reacts to bad drivers on the highway.
Hilary studied Western philosophy at the graduate level and taught college-level courses for many years. In 2012, Hilary left a career in IT to teach yoga full-time. She continues to expand her practice by attending workshops and trainings. She completed her 500-hour senior yoga teacher training through Evolation Yoga. She is eager to move and breathe with other seekers like herself.
