Cynthia Gran is a Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500) and YACEP®with Yoga Alliance.
Cynthia is currently located in Tucson, Arizona. She began to study yoga in 1978 at The Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy when it was still located in Glenview, Illinois. Initiated into the Himalayan Tradition, she was a resident there for four years and studied with Swami Rama, Swami Veda, Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Rudolph Ballentine, and many other gifted teachers. She began her career in the natural foods and wellness world in 1979, was a founding chef at the Chicago Diner in 1983, and later owned and operated the Annapurna Herb Shop in Evanston, IL. She holds a diploma in Ayurvedic Health Science through Robert Svoboda and has also studied Homeopathy, Herbalism, and Aromatherapy. She wrote a bimonthly column for several years called Yoga From My Experience, for the publication Conscious Community Magazine, (formerly the Monthly Aspectarian). They are currently republishing her articles. She co-owned the Evanston School of Yoga from 1995-2010. She taught there and various yoga classes since 1985 including beginners, general, chair for seniors, adaptive chair, meditation classes and a variety of workshops. She is a Vitamin and Herb Specialist at the Wellness Shoppe, part of the Integrative Medicine Department at NorthShore University Health Systems in Glenview, IL. She works to find a gentle, introspective and balanced life through good food and mind/body skills. She lives with her kalyanamitra, Gary, loves to cook, garden, hike, dance, read, study wild flora and fauna, listen to all types of music at small venues, and she continuously pursues personal development.
