I began practicing yoga in 2001 after having surgery on my back and fell in love with how the practice made me feel both physically and mentally.

In 2010, I decided to deepen my practice and started the teacher training program at Vermont Yoga.  Over the next couple of years, I trained in a variety of modalities including Hatha, Ashtanga, and Yin.  I also spent time learning and practicing different types of meditation, studying the Yoga Sutras and chanting techniques to better understand the roots of yoga as well as continued working on my Master's in Arts for Clinical Mental Health.  The natural synergy between yoga and mental health became clear so I researched how yoga could be used to work with anxiety, PTSD, depression and addictions and enrolled in numerous programs to deepen that knowledge.

In 2012, I launched a yoga studio in Vermont where I taught gentle and vinyasa classes.  After relocating to the west coast, I began teaching small groups and individuals in Las Vegas, NV and San Diego, CA.  My training and focus has been working with aging adults in recovery from various surgeries and injuries to improve mobility through gentle yoga sequences focused on breath.  In 2013, I completed the MA program and began incorporating more focus into course offerings on reducing stress, managing anxiety, and coping mechanisms for addiction withdrawal side effects including techniques to improve quality/length of sleep and balance.  In 2014, I added use of essential oils to enhance the experience. Most recently, I worked with a small group in a Memory Care facility practicing gentle chair yoga for aging adults, am a contractor for Next Chapter Therapy providing counseling services in Pahrump and am in process of starting a new a new practice.   I am available to work with individuals and small groups.

Focusing on Adaptive Yoga

Mindfulness on the Move. Yoga classes and workshops designed to be taught onsite at my office located at the Atrium in Henderson or brought to you or your organization.

How it works.  I work with you to create an individual schedule or workshop sessions to meet the needs of your community.  Classes are available for people of all levels with a variety of needs including stress management, chair yoga, and a variety of vinyasa (flow style) options.  I set the stage by supplying the music, flame-free candles, essential oils, and props including supportive blocks and straps. Yoga students just need to bring themselves and a mat to practice on.  Group classes can be scheduled weekly, monthly, or a 6-week progressive specialty program. Individual, couples, or private sessions for 1-5 people can be purchased individually, 5 or 10 packs of sessions.

Yoga me Happy
Many people report feeling relaxed, at ease, and happy after a yoga class.  Is it the calming music, relaxing environment, or movement of body?  As interest continues to grow within the healthcare community, researchers have begun exploring benefits of yoga to reduce depression, anxiety, and other mood related challenges.  We will explore sequences of yin (longer held postures) and yang (fluid movement e.g.: Sun Salutations) postures that have been shown to improve mood.  Suitable for all students.

Aging with Grace
Drawing from an evidence-based model of yoga, we will explore postures that have been shown to be benficial for certain health conditions.  Class will include short discussion and practice.  Suitable for all students.

Session 3-4: Yoga for Osteoporosis
Session 5-6: Yoga for Pain Management
