Over the last 20+ years, Carrington’s yoga journey has been a diverse one. Through the exploration of Bikram, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Kundalini, Vinyasa and everything in between, she realized that yoga was much bigger than just the physical endeavor of asana. But rather it was a way to dive in to the very core of self, which is the place of spirit, the place of connection, the place of the divine. Carrington gratefully attained her RYT200 teaching certification in 2004 and her RYT500 in 2010. Her classes are a canvas of movement, breath, prayer, humor and stories intertwined with spirit, sweat and magic. Ultimately, the soul of her teaching practice is about bringing people to a deeper knowing and acceptance of themselves and helping them to piece together the individual parts of the self into the more powerful whole.
Her passion both on and off the mat is helping others in finding their voice and owning their power and teaches many classes and workshops to that end. Carrington uses her own experience with her practice to help deepen and encourage the practice of her students. Her commitment to her students encourages a strong internal body, mind, and spirit awareness, as well as core strength and grace. She believes listening to the body’s own wisdom is an integral part of yoga. By listening to ourselves, we realize everything we’ve ever wanted to know is already there.
Carrington is known throughout the Triangle for teaching large scale, outside the box yoga events that bring smaller yoga communities together into a massive collective. She holds weekly classes at Blue Lotus Yoga Studio and is on faculty at the Blue Lotus Yoga Teacher Training Program. She serves as a mentor to both new and established yoga teachers in the Research Triangle Park. She is the Yoga In ActionCoordinator for Off the Mat Into The World, the North Carolina Leader for YogaVotes and a regional leader for CTZNWELL. When she is not teaching locally, Carrington leads yoga retreats, both stateside and abroad and travels with internationally known yoga teacher Seane Corn as one of her assistants. Carrington has gratefully had many teachers along the way. A few teachers who have influenced her personal and teaching practices are Seane Corn, Sharon Gannon, Ainslie Macleod, Carolyn Myss, Terry Brown, Suzanne Newton, and of course the greatest teacher of all...
