Dr. Caroline Clark Rivera began teaching human anatomy and physiology while a graduate student in Old Dominion University’s Doctorate Program in Biology. Caroline went on to become Professor of Biology at Tidewater Community College and eventually moved into higher education administration before returning to the classroom in 2017. She is currently a Visiting Professor in the Department of Biology at Florida Gulf Coast University.

Not only is Caroline a trained scientist, she is registered as an E-RYT200 yoga teacher, teaching asana for close to a decade, and bringing to class the scientific principles of alignment and body awareness. In addition her classroom (traditional college and yoga), Caroline is locally known for her work in developing and teaching human anatomy and physiology courses for 200-hour and 500-hour yoga teacher-training programs.

Caroline’s unique combination of a traditional science-based education and knowledge of the subtle body offers yoga teachers-in-training a distinctive view of the importance of body awareness.

In her continuous quest to make anatomy and physiology accessible to all, Caroline has developed e-learning modules that may serve as a supplement for any 200-hour yoga teacher-training program. Caroline is currently developing modules for 500-hour programs.

Dr. Caroline Clark Rivera is a proud, community college success story – a high school dropout who went on to beat the odds. Caroline has a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Master’s degree in Anthropology, Master’s degree in Biology – ABD PhD, and a PhD in Community College Leadership.
