My training was in Sivananda Yoga, which is a traditional practice emphasizing five points of yoga: Proper exercise, proper breathing, proper relaxation, proper diet, and positive thinking/meditation. As an instructor, my goal is always to honor this traditional teaching and to follow the specific path laid out by my training.
In following the Sivananda Yoga path, I studied advanced yoga at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre ashram in southern India. There, I taught Sanskrit to Indian yoga students before backpacking throughout India for three months. After working with special needs children, as well as with Special Olympics, I decided to learn Yoga for the Special Child, taught by the program’s founder Sonia Sumar.
Travel has taken me throughout Asia, Europe, South America, Antarctica, and the Galapagos Islands. I have owned a gourmet vegan restaurant in Portland, Maine, and a stage theater in Tennessee.
I live in New Jersey with Dr. Wife, our Child Person, and two ridiculous dogs (Phoebe and Pepper).
