Charles Paxson is a yoga practitioner for ten years and in May of 2023 became  a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance after training under the tutelage of The Yoga of Energy Flow, Cambridge, MA.  Over the many years I have been deeply touched by the spiritual and physical classes that loving teachers have provided for me.  I decided recently that I too would like to provide healing spaces, sometimes vigorous exercise, meditation and spiritual sensibilities.  I am a reader of many spiritual author's ranging from masters from my Catholic upbringing to many Buddhist writers such as Chodron, Kornfield, Brach, Batchelor and more.  So too I read philosophy, and I have a vision of creating a yoga retreat centered around Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra. The main character, disappearing into the mountain's and solitude seeking wisdom is archetypal and parallels the Buddha story.  The beauty of Nietzsche's writing in this book, his ideas and the passion at times inspire my yoga practice.  I intend to follow my passions as a side pursuit and see what materializes from my practice, teaching and program design efforts.  In 2022 I taught a mathematics class at the Massachusettes College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and my full time occupation is a staff scientific programmer at Harvard-Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, mainly supporting the operations of NASA's flagship X-ray satellite Chandra.  I look forward to finding an opportunity to share my yoga practice.
