My entire personal development experience is not reflected in the hours listed on this site.
I came to Yoga through Trager® Bodywork and Neuro-muscular Re-eductation. Actually through - chronic lower back pain, hypertension, high cholesterol and clinically obesity - at age 23. 4 Years of bodywork, biofeedback, and diet change came first. Presently, I'm a certified Instructor for Trager® International - conducting Professional Level Certification courses domestically.
I've practice Ashtanga-based asana since 1992 and began formal Ashtanga in 1999 - and began teaching (adjusting in 2001) at my own studio Easton Yoga after having 10 years of hands-on therapeutic bodywork experience in a clinical setting. I have a daily asana practice and have practiced through Advanced A - I practice 7-10hrs. per week, thousands of hours at this point and teach Functional Yoga Anatomy for YA certified trainings. I also practice and teach the intermediate Pranayamas as well.
My primary daily practice in addition to Asana is Vipassana Meditation in the tradition of Sayagyi U B Khin as Taught by S.N. Goenka. I've sat and served 17 dhamma courses including 2- 20-day courses, and multiple experiential courses of the Maha Satipatthana Sutta since 1998. I've sat multiple short courses in this tradition as well I continue to sit 2hrs daily, maintain Sila and have sat thousands of hours to date.
I'm in my 31th year as a hands-on body-worker addressing chronic pain, trauma related injuries, post surgical rehabilitation and Veteran's PTSD, all of which informs my hands-on adjustments - in particular Mysore style Ashtanga. More on the conditions I've successfully addressed can be found at www.michaellear.com
My goal is the offer support for a balancing energizing, quieting and harmonizing daily practice that eventually inspires students to commit to a regular and deep seated meditation practice.
