Nuha Alaw is a 200hr RYT.
I am originally from Iraq, I moved to the US in 2013 as a refugee. Through my gurney, I lived in several difficult situations. These are war, leaving my country, losing my dad after my family and I moved to Syria, moving to Jordan to start my application to the US, and not knowing if my sister and I are going to join my mom and my brother soon in the US or not. All these facts built lots of anxiety, fear, and insecurity. My sister and I moved to the US in 2013 as refugees and became US citizens in 2019. If you are interested to learn more about my sister and my story please check this on youtube.
I started practicing yoga in 2016 and I have been practicing ever since. Yoga helped me with creating a connection between my mind and body, reducing anxiety, managing panic attacks, and building/toning muscles.
I am fascinated by people doing arm balances during their practice and my first thought was “I can’t do this” followed by “I can do this.” It certainly became one of my favorite discoveries about myself. My favorite arm-balance poses are flying crow and side crow.
My sister Hala and I wanted to be yoga instructors to share the benefits that we gained from our daily practice and help people find and blend their true values into their practice. Therefore, my sister and I received our RYT 200 in 2021 and started teaching yoga together in a dynamic due immediately.
I teach Power Vinyasa, Yin Yang, Yin & Sound Bath, Chair Yoga, and Trauma-Informed Yoga.
I am a Business Analyst at HCA Healthcare. Besides work and teaching yoga, you can find me paddle boarding, baking bread, and working on creative knitting projects.
