Kirsten Shabanowitz, RYT-200, has a passion for deepening connections and offering space for others to connect with themselves.
She completed her 200-hour training with Samskara Yoga and Healing in Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Yin. Kirsten also completed a 25-hour training for Postnatal Yoga with Lucia Seglie and Arhanta Yoga Ashrams.
Kirsten's daily yoga journey began as a strictly home-based practice, utilizing YouTube and other online sites to learn yoga. Having a deep fear of yoga studios, Kirsten avoided public classes at all costs. As a yoga teacher now, knowing this stigma and anxiety exists, Kirsten works to create an inviting, warm, accessible and judgement-free environment for students to feel comfortable practicing in. Focusing primarily on teaching Slow Flow Vinyasa, her classes offer students of all experience levels the opportunity to learn postures and learn how their bodies move and feel within shapes.
Postnatal Yoga is a near and dear practice for Kirsten, as she experienced postpartum depression with her first child. Being a new mother (in 2009) and having very little knowledge of normal versus abnormal hormonal changes, Kirsten suffered alone. She knows the power of yoga and feels that if postnatal yoga was available to her as a new mother, her post-birth experience may have been very different. She is passionate about bringing a better understanding about postpartum experiences to light and offering a community for new mothers to share space and relieve some of the pressures (physical and mental) of motherhood.
Kirsten brings her compassion, humor, vibrant energy and love of life into every class, encouraging students to honor where they are today.
