For as long as I can remember I have been interested in the body and in movement. I loved watching my mum practice yoga and following along with her as a child. At 1986 I left home to attend professional dance school and it was towards the end of 1989 that I began my love affair with the body-mind-spirit connection after encountering various injuries that led to giving up my dreams of being a professional dancer. Yoga introduced me to the skills of introspection, of listening to and honouring the body. It taught me not just about strength and flexibility but also about a gentle openness and acceptance and how these skills were just as valuable off the mat as on it.

I took my first formal yoga class in 1989 and have practised ever since (bar a small break to have children.), studying with various styles of teacher including British Wheel and  Iyengar teachers. In 1995 i took an MA in Dance Movement Therapy, studying movement observation and the psychotherapeutic use of movement and dance, and worked in a school for teenagers with emotional and behavioural difficulties. I also practised Kung  N'ye for 8 years and Tai Chi for 2, both of which have informed and guided my yoga practice to new dimensions.

My yoga teaching began in the old apprenticeship style,  teaching yoga and meditation to secondary school children in 1998/9 and then (after raising my own children) beginning to teach my own adult classes in the local church hall in 2008. I have been teaching and studying ever since.

In 2016 I took a year long course in advanced musculo-skeketal anatomy and I have taken online courses with Tom Myers and Karin Gutner. In 2018 I decided to take a Vinyasa Teacher Training with Uplifted because of its broad range of scope which included fascial experts like Tom Myers and John Barnes along with the usual studies. I took another vinyasa qualification again in 2020 as well as qualifying as a Foundations Level Energy Medicine Yoga teacher. I am currently on a min 4 year sudy programme to be an Advanced Energy Medicine Yoga Practionner and I'm super-excited about sharing this integrative practice, incorporating enregetic techniques into yoga.

I believe very much in the maxim my teacher taught me, that yoga is about skills for living. Its balance of breath, mindful movement and alignment affects ones whole being -physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  I have worked in schools, church halls, gyms, corporate, and old peoples homes. I am passionate about sharing the joys of yoga with anyone and everyone!
