April (she/they) initially discovered Hatha yoga in the early 2000s at their local gym in her home city of Lowell, Massachusetts. However, life moved them closer to the city of Boston and April lost touch with their yoga practice and fixated on weightlifting and cardiovascular exercise at the new gym she joined.
In 2015, April gave birth to her first son and soon after was discovered to have postpartum depression. Their best friend stepped in and coaxed her to join her for a vinyasa class at her local yoga studio. The rest is history. The practice of yoga aided in April's recovery from postpartum depression and then postpartum anxiety after the birth of their second son in 2018.
April received their RYT-200 from Roots Yoga in Burlington, MA (RYS) and also is certified in HEALing Yoga 1 & 2 (YACEP) from Fluid Yoga/Padme PT. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, and began their 300-hour certification with Down Under School of Yoga. She has studied with and been greatly influenced by teachers such as Ginger Boermeester, Elliott McEldowney, Mimi Loureiro, and Alicia Molloy.
April loves to explore diverse movements that challenge and soothe the body and the mind allowing students to find their edge and evolve their practice. She is a firm believer in inclusivity, equality and bringing the practice of yoga to all. Ensuring students feel safe and comfortable with them is the highest priority. Joy and laughter are always welcome in their classroom.
When she is not practicing or teaching yoga, she’s playing outside with their two children, Ian and Patrick, walking their three dogs, or indulging in re-runs of ‘Parks & Rec’, ‘Letterkenny’ and ‘Big Mouth’.
