Yoga has become the golden thread in Lisa’s life journey.  She was first introduced to yoga when a friend took her to a 6 week introductory Sivananda course in Chicago in 1993.  Over time Lisa discovered yoga teachers, practices, and philosophy that empowered her to create beneficial changes in all areas of her life.  Lisa’s practice transformed in 2001 when she met her teachers, Yogarupa Rod Stryker and Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, and she was initiated into Para Yoga and the Sri Vidya tradition of the Himalayan Institute.  And then again when she studied with Gary Kraftsow in the American Viniyoga tradition in 2009-11.

Lisa teaches beginner and level 1-2 classes because she enjoys introducing people to yoga.  Even in a group class, yoga practice is a very personal experience.  Lisa endeavors to match the needs, abilities and interests of her students while also introducing new and experienced yogis to the broader array of practices within the yoga tradition.  Lisa understands how powerful it is to study with a teacher who can find the key to what a student really needs.   She seeks to create a space in class that is welcoming, nurturing, enlivening, and transformative.  Lisa integrates her knowledge and experience as a clinical psychologist with her yoga teaching which enables her to adapt yoga practices to the individual student.  Yoga is a holistic practice, and Lisa’s classes are designed to address the needs of the whole person, mind, body and spirit.
