I studied Yoga in Rishikesh, India, where I learned the traditional style of Himalayan Hatha Yoga by Swami Rama. I've been teaching Yoga since January 2013.
During asana practise, I take a balanced approach toward flexibility, strength, bodyweight support, core development and coordination. My teaching also includes Pranayama (breathing exercises), Mudra (gestures) Bandha (locks), and various meditation techniques such as Pratyahara, Dharana and Dhyana.
As all modern Yoga Asana styles are based on Hatha, there is no such thing as a ‘typical’ Hatha class. Classes can range from gentle and relaxing to vigorous and challenging depending on the requirements of the students. Advancement in Hatha is not dependent on the complication of the pose, but rather the length of time it is held, intermediate to advanced students can expect more focussed practise, while beginners can expect more flowing practise.
In addition to Hatha, I also teach Yin Yoga and Partner Yoga.
