Natascha Flowers is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, having completed 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Byron Yoga Centre, a Registered Yoga School (RYS), in March 2018.
Her love for movement, breath and presence began in Acting School (Bachelor of Dramatic Art, Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne University), and developed into a commitment to sharing creativity, body awareness and voice to empower others.
Having completed a Master of Social Work (Monash University), Natascha promotes a peaceful, positive relationship with body and mind. Her further training with Noelle Connolly, Sam B Belyea and Ari Levanael has inspired her to create strong and challenging sequences in a safe, integrated and fun way.
Natascha has also completed training in teaching yoga for trauma, mental health and body image with Sarah Ball, and with Trauma Sensitive Yoga Australia. Combining her knowledge as a trauma counsellor and social worker with principles and practices of yoga, Natascha is passionate about integrating physiological and emotional aspects and awareness into her classes.
Natascha teaches regular studio and private classes in Sydney, and also has experience teaching trauma-sensitive yoga to a refugee community in Cisarua, Indonesia on multiple occassions.
Natascha has also facilitated and co-facilitated creative and yoga workshops combining improvisation, mindfulness, theatre, voice work, guided journalling and yoga.
As a social worker, Natascha has worked with refugees and asylum seekers, people with disabilities, young people experiencing mental health issues, and those at risk of and experiencing homelessness, and people impacted by eating and body image concerns in both community and clinical mental health settings.
Throughout all her work, Natascha aims to enhance wellbeing by using a strengths based approach, and embodiment and practical mindfulness strategies.
