I began my exploration of yoga in 2009 after retiring from 10 years of triathlon training/competition which ended in completing an Ironman. I was in search for something that could keep me grounded and active, something that could keep my mind busy and body in shape. Little did I know that yoga was going to bring so much more into my life. I started attending a local yoga class – which, at first, seemed foreign and almost impossible. But after a year of consistent practice, I started noticing many positive changes within my body and mind. My ability to concentrate and focus was sharpening. I was gaining mind and body strength and flexibility and the emotional and spiritual stability I was looking for, these changes kept me coming back to my mat.
After my first hot class and many, many more I came to know that this was my thing - I love hot heat! It was then that I knew that this is what I needed to share with others - the amazing gift of yoga. I began pursuing my teaching career to help others experience what I have experienced: the peace, humility, emotional stability and spirituality that yoga brings to anyone who embraces it.
I completed my RYT200 in 2016 in addition to Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) yoga instructor certification and completed my YRT500 August 2021. I have been instructing both land-based studio, private classes and community events for the last 6 years in addition to offering seasonal paddleboard yoga. My teaching style is vinyasa and alignment based, sometimes with an athletic twist, while still offering modification for an accessible practice.
I believe that yoga is all about feeling good and finding what works for each individual, as we all are on a different journey. A healthy lifestyle that includes a regular practice of yoga is life-changing and empowering in the most positive of ways. I am excited to return to such a beloved studio and the opportunity to share my love of yoga and movement with others. From my heart to yours, Namaste!
