I have been practicing yoga since 2006. It started as a hobby and soon became a passion and way of life that soon led me to take my RYT 200 and Yin/Chakra certification in summer of 2017.
Prior to that I graduated from Queen's University in 1986 with a Bachelor in Physiotherapy. I practiced physiotherapy from 1986 through to 2016 in a wide variety of settings such as: Intensive care, post surgical, out patient orthopaedics, extended care and home health. My career came to an abrupt halt after a tragic water accident rendered my husband a quadriplegic. He was hit by a wave while we were vacationing in Maui, he drowned, died on the beach and was resuscitated. Miraculously he did not sustain any brain damage at all. The road back has been a hard roller coaster type of ride.
I attribute not only surviving this trauma but prevailing in the face of adversity to my well established practice of yoga. Through this experience, I realized that everyone has a story. All stories contain their share of trauma. Teaching yoga as a tool to manage life's stresses and transitions is my passion. I am inspired by making yoga accessible to all regardless of their age and/or ability. My goal is to enable everyone to keep moving with grace at any age.
