I teach a fluid, soulful style of yoga with a strong focus on healthy alignment, breath awareness and playful exploration. I aim to create energising, thoughtful classes which are a juicy infusion of all the flavours of yoga and hope to encourage individuals to develop confidence and joy in their yoga no matter what the shape of their body or state of their mind. My public classes offer inspiration and challenges for all levels, with modifications and options to encourage yogis to observe and respect their bodies, yet develop confidence in their practice.
My own practice and my teaching are influenced by many wonderful instructors and yoga traditions. I aim to pass on that inspiration and enthusiasm to my own students
A friend introduced me to Iyengar classes at college almost 30 years ago. I gravitated to Ashtanga, and began exploring different styles along the way from dynamic flow, Shadow, Acro and Anusara, to yin and restorative yoga. Big influences on my life and teaching style include Sianna Sherman, with whom I did an advanced RASA teacher training, and the somatic awareness and fascia work of Tias Little which helps release deep held tensions and reconnect with our true selves. I weave in elements of them all through my teaching to create fluid, but structured classes, encouraging students to move mindfully with the breath and from their centre.
It was during pregnancy that my self practice and appreciation for the capabilities of the human body truly evolved, and I trained to teach Pregnancy yoga, yoga for mums and babes, toddlers, teens and family yoga.
I also teach meditation and restorative yoga and yoga on water - SUP yoga. I strongly believe there is no one size fits all and as a teacher my main role is to help students to listen to their bodies to discover what they need every time they get on the mat (and off it!)
