Christina Echols is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS).
As a lifetime competitive swimmer, I am focused on developing programs for swimmers or other athletes who may only have the capacity to practice yoga once or twice per week.
With background as a physiotherapist, I have a foundation of anatomy, physiology, injury prevention and injury rehabilitation that I bring to all classes to modify for specific needs or injuries.
My classes are not of a specific style – generally a blend of Vinyasa flow yoga and Hatha yoga. The classes are designed to create balance within the body focusing on areas of muscle imbalance students may be experiencing either from sport or from their office jobs through strengthening and flexibility. In addition, balance practice and meditation deepen mind awareness on the ability to focus and react, particularly useful skills in competition or in times of stress.
If you are looking for deep, fascia stretching, I am also available to teach Yin Yoga - a style of yoga targeted at the connective tissue surrounding and interwoven through the muscles. Yin yoga involves, gentle and long postures to target specific areas of tightness. It should not be practiced within one week of any competition or peak-performance sport.
