I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, and a retired Registered Social Worker with a background in mental health, corrections, individual and group counselling. I have passions for yoga, education, nature and sailing.
I believe Yoga is a means to experiencing the joy of life that anyone can access.
I teach private and small group personalized classes in my home studio, on Five Island Lake. The environment is warm, friendly and peaceful. Breathing, increasing awareness of one's body, mind and emotions are emphasized. Care is taken to ensure that students understand the basic concepts underlying alignment and mindful practice.
As a retired social worker I have a special interest in Yoga as a tool for reducing stress, improving cognitive function, and addressing emotions stored in the body. I have continued my education with training on Yoga and Mental Health, as well as working with Trauma.
I am a live aboard sailor 3 months of the year and I teach yoga for boat life at various destinations along our route. 2017 it was in Bequia, St Vincent .
I especially love teaching yoga to individuals who may not normally have the confidence or ability to access classes. Previously I offered classes to Youth at a local Shelter. I currently offer Free Sunday morning Drop In Community Yoga and I teach Chair Yoga at a Seniors Residence with people who have physical and cognitive challenges.
Everyone deserves to be kind to themselves and to experience the sense of calm that can be found within.
