Anne-Sophie Godenir began practicing Ashtanga Yoga in early 2002. The regular and committed practice gave her a renewed outlook on life. In 2015 she completed a 200-hour teaching training program with Barbara Roll and Marc Pauw both of them strongly inspired by Larry Schultz, the founder of Rocket Yoga.
Convinced by the power of deep and meditative Yin Yoga, she trained at Yin Yoga and functional anatomy and received Yin Yoga certification from Joe Barnett (senior student of Paul Grilley). As a certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor, Anne-Sophie's intention is to bring mindful awareness to ourselves in our daily life.
Anne-Sophie is also the only yoga teacher in Belgium certified in Yoga for Athletes.
Working closely with high-level athletes and concerned to bring the benefits of yoga to athletes, she created - ATHLETA YOGA - in 2018 and branded specific yoga programs for athletes. Two years later, she extended the yoga offer with tools to develop te mental & cognitive skills of athletes: mental & cognitive coaching, Visualization & Breathing techniques and Mindfulness programs for athletes. ATHLETA MIND was born.
She currently works with national top hockey players (U15 - U21 - Red Lions) and develops programs for Hockey players and coordinates the weekly teaching of Yoga to young top hockey players at the Royal Racing Club of Brussels.
She also develops specific programs for soccers and coordinates the weekly teaching of Yoga to the Sporting of Charleroi (RCSC), giving Yoga programs to “Zebra Talents”, the academy for young top soccer players.
Anne-Sophie is currently engaged in an advanced teacher program to become a RYT 500.
Anne-Sophie is an E-RYT 200 and YACEP through Yoga Alliance and has given more than 1500 hours in classes and courses. This enables other Yoga teachers to train with her and receive continuing education credits.
Anne-Sophie holds a Master’s degree in communication and a specialised Master in Business and Management.
With a background in competitive gymnastics, Anne-Sophie brings in a unique softness in her Yoga practice with a fine balance between effortless movement and body control. Anne-Sophie’s main intention is to bring the benefits of Yoga to everybody, irrespective of age or ability aiming to support all beings through movement, connection, and playfulness. She has a functional approach to yoga and insists on function and beneftis.
She is continually researching and adding to her knowledge with current technologies as well as the wisdom that comes from the ancient Vedanta from which yoga is derived. She is passionate about meditation, myofascial and somatic technics, energetic body and functional movement, science and health.
She teaches group classes, private classes and workshops.
Her classes range from peaceful and relaxing Yin to energetic, sweat-inducing Ashtanga, Rocket Yoga, Power flow, Vinyasa Yoga and Yoga for Athletes. Anne-Sophie’s classes are always challenging physically and mentally, delivered in French or English (and Sanskrit) with uplifting music, including demonstrations and maximum hands on assists.
Currently Anne-Sophie resides in Brussels, Belgium.
She speakes French, Dutch and English.
