Christina Hickey is the Executive Director of Warriors at Ease, a nonprofit organization that provides continuing education to yoga instructors who want to work with and in the military community. The training is based on the pioneering research done at Walter Reed, where Warriors at Ease founders were involved from the start.
She brings experience from both the private sector as well as working with multiple military non-profits over the years. Christie’s upbringing was heavily influenced by both yoga and military lifestyle. Her grandfather served over twenty years in the Navy, her father served over twenty years between the Navy and the Air Force, her stepfather is a retired Marine, and Christie is married to an Army Special Forces Officer. Christie’s yoga practice started early with her grandmother who was also a yoga instructor and started teaching yoga in 2015.
Christie’s yoga practice and training with Warriors at Ease have been a vital tool in helping her navigate life as the wife of an active-duty soldier. Within her own military community, Christie’s training allowed her to help families establish practices that would support the transition when their service members returned home from deployment.
Christie is dedicated to bringing mindfulness and resiliency to the military community through the practices of yoga and meditation.
