Kelly McLellan (E-RYT200 & RYT500) has been a student of yoga for over 25 years and teaching for almost as long! She attended the University of Florida where she studied psychology and the mind-body connection. She went on to receive a Masters in Health Science Education specializing in holistic health.
Kelly firmly believes in the power of yoga as a tool for integrating the person as a whole: body, mind and spirit. She understands yoga to be a spiritual discipline, using the practice to “still the turnings of the mind” in order to rest in the presence and perfect love of God. Her primary focus in teaching yoga is to help her students “remember what they have forgotten”, reacquainting them with their bodies and helping her students to recognize themselves as temples of the Holy Spirit.
She is the owner of Getting Still and creator of Getting Still Studies, an online educational platform dedicated to providing a supportive community and quality courses and trainings for seekers who desire to understand the practices and philosophies of yoga from a Christian worldview. She is a contributing writer for Christian’s Practicing Yoga and her published works include The Postures of Prayer: A Christian Yoga Deck, Journeying through the Chakras with Christ, and The Yoga Sutras through the Lens of Christ, which she has taught at yoga teacher trainings at both the 200hr and 300hr level. Kelly lives near Asheville, NC with her husband. When she is not writing, or on her mat, you can find her hanging out with her friends and family, gardening, making jewelry and other art, playing with her dogs or reading and contemplating life’s deepest questions.
