Asha (ze/zir pronouns) is a Register Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS). Ze is completing zir 300 RYT certification through the Trauma Center's Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) program. Ze is also holds a Masters Degree in Social Work (LMSW) with a private practice in Rochester NY, traditional Haudenosaunee Land.
Ze received zir certification through Grounded by Yoga's Interdisciplinary, trauma-Informed Hatha Yoga Program. Ze also received zir Restorative Yoga certification through Grounded by Yoga in October of 2016, and Yoga Nidra certification in March 2019.
With a BA in Philosophy from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, zir's public classes offer a blend of authentic yogic philosophy in addition to movement. Strong emphasis is placed upon cultivating loving awareness and relationship with the Beloved. Private sessions for trauma-informed yoga offer clients guidance to self-love and self-liberation.
While identifying as non-binary femme, Asha strives to make zir trainings accessible to cis and trans folk alike by using inclusive language based on sanskrit descriptions. With a deeply compassionate, honest and humorous approach, ze moves through the world of being a white, non-binary person with some physical and mental disabilities, open to holding dual truths, learning and doing better.
