I truly believe that yoga is an integral part of healthier aging. I specialize in movement for healthier aging using gentle and dynamic yoga. Curious for a while about yoga but hesitant due to the popular media images of slim young women shaped like pretzels, I tried my first yoga class at 40 and have had a personal practice ever since then (2004). I am a Certified Yoga Instructor from Atlantic Yoga Teacher Training (AYTT - Kripalu Inspired Yoga) and Certified Yoga for Healthy Aging Teacher by Baxter Bell and Melina Meza.
My goal is to make yoga approachable and accessible. To help people to maintain or improve strength, balance, flexibility, agility, and learn to manage stress and cultivate equanimity with a balanced practice of movement and breath work. My classes are perfect for anyone wanting a gentle, slow yoga class. Ever heard of the slow food movement, well I teach slow yoga. Similar philosophy. Students are encouraged to move at their own pace and to listen to their needs. My classes include guided verbal cues and choices for taking care of oneself.
My business name, "Ocean Breath Yoga for EVERY body", reflects that my teaching style is inclusive of many body types and ages with a nod to my home province's ocean roots.
I am inspired by my garden, my happy go lucky Labrador Retrievers and walks with nature. I explore my creative side through knitting, rug hooking, with a sprinkling of photography, writing and other curiosities.
In light. Michelle.
